REFUSE DISPOSAL
Refuse is collected by Huntingdonshire District Council. They provide 'wheely bins' to each residence; one for household waste, one for recyclable materials (except glass) and one, if required, for garden waste.
Collections are made each Monday, with the household waste collection plus recyclables alternating with that for garden waste.
Glass and bottles may not be put in the bins, but should be taken to the bottle bank, situated on the car park to the side of the Mandeville Hall.
There is a Householders' Recycling Centre at Buckden where bulky items may be taken.
KIMBOLTON 'STATTY' FAIR
The 'statty', or statutory, fair is normally held on the third Wednesday of September each year. The fair dates from the town's Market Charter in the 1200's and has been run most years since then, even when the B645 was the A45 trunk road!
On the day, the B645 through High Street is closed to traffic (hopefully!) and all traffic is diverted via St Andrew's Lane and East St.
The fair, nowadays a funfair but originally a trade fair, sets up in the High St and is open during the afternoon and evening of the Wednesday.
Many people attend for a good time during the evening and cars are to be found parked in every available space in the village.
The opportunity is taken to sweep the street and gutters early on the Thursday morning, once the fair has departed, this being the only time in the year when cars are not parked in the High Street.
Kimbolton Food Festival
The second highly successful Food Festival was held on 6 December 2008 (see below) and this year's event, which promises to be bigger and better, is scheduled for 12 December 2009. Proceeds from the event benefit Puddleducks Pre-School Group and further information is available from them or from the organiser, Vicky Moore on vickyamoore@hotmail.com
